Dave Costello - Camp Lanowa
As you know, our dear friend Dave Costello
has taken on a lot of challenges in his life.
I'm writing to let you know that Dave is currently
fighting cancer.
Dave has undergone surgery and treatment. In typical
Dave fashion,
he is determined to win this battle.
I'm sure he can use our expressions of support and
love.
Email Gary Yellin, or one of the Lanowa alumni,
or modembutterfly AT cox DOT net
for Dave's email address / phone number.
These are the times that as family,
we should come together for one of our loved ones.
Let Dave know that you're sending positive thoughts
his way.

"I wanted to let people know that if you
use the search engine "Goodsearch" - you can enter
Homes for the Homeless (HFH NY)
as your charity on the homepage
and each time you search, money goes into their
pot.
Tiny little amounts can add up if lots of people
use it."
Eileen Churchill
Note:
GVF alum, Connie Stine, is the Director of Camp
Wakonda,
which is sponsored by Homes for the Homeless.

Camp Wakonda Open House
|
It's official!
Save the date!
Camp Wakonda
will host an
Open House
at its site on
Saturday, July 19,
2008
|
Activities commence upon arrival at 11 AM
with visitors able to tour camp and see camp
in progress.
A picnic lunch on the lawn
with guests and the entire camp population
will be followed by an opportunity
to swim or boat at the waterfront.
The afternoon activity will be Halloween
with guests actively participating in various
areas
of camp as part of the program:
trick or treat, haunted house, story telling,
etc.,
or just watching the fun and craziness unfold!
Dinner will be an informal affair at a local
restaurant.
Watch for additional information, which will
include hotels
and plans for dinner.
We are not charging a fee for this get together,
but hope that all visitors will bring a small
donation
of clothing or program supplies
to be used by our campers.
Hope to see all of you at camp!!!

The
Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly
There
was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
I guess she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a spider.
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled insider her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
I guess she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a bird.
How absurd! To swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled insider her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
I guess she'll die.
Continue adding on verses:
Cat . . . Imagine that!
She swallowed a cat.
Dog . . . What a hog!
She swallowed a dog.
Goat . . . She opened her throat
and in walked a goat.
Cow . . . I don't know how
she swallowed that cow.
There was an old lady,
she swallowed a horse.
She DIED of course!

Mitakuye oyasin
"Mitakuye oyasin" is Lakota and means
"all my relations."
They say it at the end of every prayer as a reminder
that
we are all related and connected to everything around
us.

Several
have asked about contributing money to help
defray the costs associated with this website.
To you I extend my sincere appreciation for your
thoughtfulness and generosity. However, I strongly
prefer
text-based or photographic contributions to the
website.
If you have an overwhelming desire to make monetary
contributions to this website, divert those donations
to an organization that
will use your funds to help a child experience
camping.
Thanks again,
Pam
