William
Davis was born and raised in New York City,
but despite his urban roots, he was a true conservationist.
He spent much of his time camping, hiking, hunting
and fishing,
and taught his family to respect and appreciate nature.
Wild Kingdom and National Geographic were staples
at the Davis house.
He convinced Melanie's worried mother to send her
and her brothers
to summer camp. The nine wonderful years Melanie spent
at Camp Oh-Neh-Tah
played a major role in shaping who she is today.
To thank her father for that gift,
she has planted an Oak tree in his memory.
May it grow and flourish in this beautiful place.
